Present Simple Tense

Present Simple Tense mempunyai bentuk yang sama dengan infinitive tanpa To tetapi untuk orang ketiga tunggal (He, She, It) ditambahkan s/es. [S + V1st form (s/es) + O/Adverb]

Present Simple Tense digunakan untuk :

• Menyatakan suatu perbuatan yang merupakan suatu kebiasaan (habitual action).
• Menyatakan suatu kebenaran umum (general truth) atau fakta yang nyata kebenarannya saat berbicara.
• Adat istiadat (customs) dan kemampuan (ability).
• Suatu perbuatan yang secara positif akan terjadi di waktu yang akan datang (a future action categorically), misalnya perbuatan itu selalu dilakukan secara rutin atau telah dijadwalkan (scheduled).

Contoh :

1. He smokes (+).

    He doesn't smoke (-).

    Does he smoke (?).

2. The earth goes round the sun (+).

    The earth doesn't go round the sun (-).

    Does the earth go round the sun (?).

3. Everyday I go to school (+).

    Everyday I don't go to school (-).

    Do I everyday go to school (?).

4. The birds sing on the trees (+).

    The birds don't sing on the trees (-).

    Do the birds sing on the trees (?)

5. You write (+).

    You don't write (-).

    Do you write (?)
